CHILD CARE FOR DESIGNATED ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL

Earlier this week Governor Hogan required the closure of all non-essential businesses as the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continues to climb across the State. Following this Executive Order Dr. Karen Salmon, State Superintendent of Schools, announced on the evening of March 26th that all child care programs are to be closed at the end of the day today, March 27, 2020. “During this State of Emergency, child care programs have been established by the State to serve only designated essential personnel.”

Our schools have been approved as authorized child care providers for essential personnel. These families must bring documentation of one parent’s essential status (ie. Letter or photo ID/Badge) and complete the Essential Personnel Child Care Family Enrollment Application. We will make a copy of your documentation to keep on file and will be submitting attendance records for this State-funded child care program. New families to Columbia Academy should call first and must complete an APPLICATION with the documents listed below.

Our Elementary and Middle School moved to distance learning on March 23, 2020 and will continue to provide distance learning for students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade until the current situation improves and/or the State of Emergency is lifted.

Please see the list of designated essential personnel identified in the Governor’s March 25, 2020 Executive Order (Definitions>Essential persons means:).
