The Preschool at Thunder Hill is part of Columbia Academy, which offers a strong academic foundation for students from Preschool through Grade 8. The Thunder Hill location is one of four preschools within the Columbia Academy system. All of the schools hire experienced educators, who ensure your child has a head start on schooling. When your child enters Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten, they join other grades at our location on Old Columbia Road.
Thunder Hill uses the same play-based curriculum as other preschools in our system, but Thunder Hill also offers:
- An under-the-sea theme throughout its first floor and a safari theme on the second
- Multiple playgrounds so each age group can play and learn
- A multipurpose room for days that students can’t go outside
- Extracurricular activities, such as Soccer Shots and JumpBunch
- Before and after school care, along with busing to Thunder Hill Elementary School
- A key code entry system that only allows those with authorized access to come into the school

I think staff retention is very important. I know sometimes it’s unavoidable but it’s very stressful on parents and kids to change/lose main teachers and school leaders in such quick succession. I have noticed more stability in the newest leadership which is appreciated.

I have loved Columbia Academy. Mr. Shane has been so good with my son and he’s very very kind with all of his students. The curriculum is amazing and I truly think this school has helped my son prepare for success in kindergarten. Thank you so much!

I do wish Endeavor would support our school’s teachers and directors more during staff shortages so that they could keep up with things like newsletters, posting schedules outside classes, etc. I also hope our assistant director is getting a lot of recognition for holding things down since we have had 3 different directors since my child enrolled a year ago. I’m not sure why she didn’t get promoted honestly!

The staff is fabulous! They truly care for their students and create a wonderful learning environment. My child is only 6 months old and she’s excited every time she sees her teachers. It’s such an overwhelming comfort as a parent to know your child is in a safe and loving place being taken care of by the best teachers.

I love the faculty and staff at Columbia Academy Thunder Hill. Courtney is a wonderful school leader and has been a consistent presence for us and our children throughout our time there. Ms. Yolanda is the definition of an amazing Pre-K teacher. She knows the children and their unique needs. She is friendly, personable, and open to conversations with parents. In all, she is just wonderful. My concern is that some teachers/staff have left and this puts additional burden on those who are still there. It’s not sustainable and I hope this can be resolved quickly.
